PRIDEFest 2010 Theme and Chairpersons Selected |

The Board of Directors of Central Alabama Pride, Inc. have announced the Chairpersons and theme for PRIDEFest 2010. The theme comes following recommendations from committee meetings. The theme was approved at the board meeting on February 10, 2010. The 2010 PRIDEFest Theme is "Together We Can..." There will be a logo design contest to go with "Together We Can...". There will be cash prizes up to $200 for the winning design. The logo cannot consist of more than four colors. More information will be posted as soon as it becomes available so check back often! In addition to the 2010 theme, chairpersons for the annual event were also named. Taking on additional responsibilities this year will be Mark Cummings who has been the Event Stage Manager for the past several years and new board member Scott Thacker. Cummings and Thacker have announced that the dates for PRIDEFest 2010 will be June 4th through June 13th. In addition to announcing the dates for next year's celebration the chairpersons have issued a call for all persons interested in entertaining at the all day festival, on June 13h, to contact them before March 1st, 2010. CAP Website to Feature LGBT Organizations |

 In the Central Alabama Pride, Incorporated Corporate Bylaws, Article II, Section 2, it states "The specific objectives and purposes of this corporation shall be to
promote pride within and understanding between the gay, lesbian,
bisexual and transgender communities and all other communities in
central Alabama through education, public forums and organized social
and recreational activities."
In light of the recent conflicts with the Mayor's Office of the City of Birmingham, we want to assist all organizations of the greater Birmingham Metropolitan Area in sharing "their story" about their organization. In order to accomplish this goal, we will begin a monthly feature of those organizations serving our area.

From the first organized meeting, held in June, 1979, to the
application for recognition as a "Charitable Organization" under the
Internal Revenue Code, to today, CAP has grown and flourished. In February, 2007, the organization received the final declaration from the IRS that their probationary period, after application, was over and they the organization had been approved as an official
501(c)(3) Charitable Organization under the Federal Tax Code. This is
an incredible milestone in the history of the organization as this
status allows the organization to reach a wider spectrum of
benefactors, including corporations that do business in the greater
Birmingham metropolitan area.
