Turn-a-Bout Show

With the Pride Pageants kicking off Friday night (see Pride Pageants in this section), and Saturday night, Sunday evening brought some not often seen members of the community as members of the CAP Board of Directors, along with other friends, painted up, powdered up and took to the stage in the Pheonix sponsored, "Hey Mister, Can You Spare a Dime" fund raiser.  A small crowd but lots of donations, and what a treat to see the alter ego of our friends on the Board of Directors.

Bingo 4 BAO

A new addition to the annual LGBT Pride celebration, CAP sponsors the June edition of Bingo 4 BAO.  The sponsorship includes rounding up donors of cash and prizes and providing a guest "Puller" and "Caller" for the night.  With the top prize  being $500.00, who can resist a fun night out, while raising money for a worthy cause?

Bowling Night

New, for CAP in 2007, the Brunswick Lanes, located on Highway 280 in Inverness, was the setting for Family Bowling night.  Special rates on shoe rentals and lanes, along with "pitcher beer" specials and about 200 people and you have yourself a party!  The event proved to be even more successful than anyone had hoped for, so look for it again in 2008.

Town Hall

A recurring and important event on the Pride Celebration calendar is The Town Hall meeting.  This forum provides members of the LGBT community to sit down, face to face with community leaders and gives them an opportunity to voice opinions and concerns.  Co-sponsored by UAB's Gay / Straight Student Alliance, the Hulsey Center auditorium brought together approximately 50 - 60 concerned and interested citizens to meet with 15 representatives from government, support groups, service organizations, and support groups.

Skate Party

Pull out your best plaid pants and your shiniest shirt because Thursday night brought the Disco Skate Party, held at Skates280 in Inverness.  With attendance over 400, the annual skate party proved to be a fun night for friends and family, both young and old.  With Quest House DJ, DJDerek, spinning the tunes, where else would you want to be?

CCC Dance Party

A year for firsts, Friday night started out with a Dance Party hosted by our friends at Covenant Community Church.  Held in the church basement, the space was packed to overflowing with games, prizes, food, drink and good music.   For those that didn't get their fill of dancing, the remainder of the evening, "Support Your Favorite Bar Night" encouraged area citizens to stop by their favorite late night spot to say THANKS for the tremendous role that they play in making the annual Pride Celebration possible.

Pride Parade

The annual Gay Pride Parade, Mardi Gras Style, through Birmingham's Historic Five Points South.
